Cheltenham Folk Festival
Annually in Cheltenham.
The 2008 Festival was my first Folk Festival.
What a nice surprise. Folk isn't normally my kind of music, but I had a really good time.
It's BIG - the Town Hall and other venues were really busy, lots of the acts did two sets to meet demand.
I spoke with quite a few of the audience and people had come from all over the country. This is a national event, and it's on our doorstep.
Go in 2009.
These guys are really funny and very clever. Well worth seeing.

Not a good video I'm afraid - sound was awful where I was filming from*, and the camerawork was off as well.
*Not the bands fault - acoustics in the space are poor if you are above the audience.

Duke - Music in the Park
Gloucester Festival 2008
The PA didn't do justice to this excellent trio. (Beatbox does require a really good sound system and that afternoon I found the sound the sound very muddy. Friends of mine on stage also noticed the sound issues. It's not the engineers fault - they did the Kings Square gig the next day and the sound there was excellent).
See their music video for a better idea of hat they can do.

The year of the Floods
In spite of the flooding, and lack of tap water- the river banks burst the day before the Festival was due to start - , the organisers and venues managed to stage nearly every event as planned.
Likal was there to record quite a lot of what went on, sometimes covering three venues each evening!
Below the photo gallery, (pics available for purchase from the photographer), is a selection of the videos. More are on the Likal23 account at YouTube.

I'll be honest - I went because I'm shooting video, and I think I expected a fairly academic sort of porch music. How wrong can you be! This was porch music the way a Ferrari is form or transportation.
The clips give a flavour of the night, but really, if you like up tempo blues and didn't go, you missed a great night. All came on stage for the finale.

Gloucester International Rhythm & Blues Festival 2008
After last years flooding fun this years festival went pretty much without a hitch, and was appreciated by locals and visitors alike.
In filming the festival I was interested to come across people who had come from quite far away to attend - either for an act that they liked or simply because they loved the great combination of music, beer, and convivial atmosphere.
