Panel Pages

These are complex but important pages that are used when you need, or expect to need, to pull information together automatically.

Normally only done for pages that are expected to be important and long lasting.

E.g. a Band page will pull in all the posts about that band...

Usually part of a Book.

A multi stage process. These instructions are for a simple, single column, Panel Page with two panels.

PART 1

1) Create Content

2) Choose Layout - Single Column

(FYI the FrontPage is a 2 Column Panel with controlled widths surrounded by the usual sidebars. Panels is powerful a layout tool).

PART 2

1) Title it.

2) Scroll down to Book Outline and add to book. Do this first because it sometimes throws an error, which is annoying if you have done everything already...

3) Vocabs - tick or Free Tag. When Freetagging allow autocomplete.

4) Image - optional, as usual.

5) CSS ID - ignore

6) Teaser - required but not really used, so just Title again.

SAVE

PART 3

1) Panel Content

2) Click the little + sign - top left of "middle column".

a) Add Content
b) New Custom Content
c) NO TITLE, but then some blurb or, very comonly, an IFRAME, just as with a normal entry.

SAVE

Repeat PART 3 (2) adding View Panels as needed. (NOT REQUIRED for the Resources pages, but for BANDS, add one if you can see one. I haven't built the BAND VIEWS yet though).

That's it. Seems like a lot of work for no more than a normal page entry, but it is the foundation of much more advanced stuff that Admin can do.
